16x 260W Schott Solar Panels For Sale - Affordable 4kW - $1400

8/12/2018

Picture
UPDATE: THE PANELS HAVE BEEN SOLD! THANKS TO THE BUYER FOR SUPPORTING OUR ORGANIZATION!

This is a fundraiser for the Solar Guild and Citizens for Solar, local Tucson nonprofit organizations!

These panels were recently carefully and professionally removed from a home here in Tucson during a homeowner's upgrade to a newer system. Minor repairs may be needed before these are put back in service. These panels are being sold as-is with no implied warranty. The string voltages were tested before removal and these panels are still likely producing at least 90% of their rated specs, so they'll be producing power for many years to come.
Buyer is responsible for packing, loading and transport. These panels will go quickly at this price, but please remember they are being sold as-is with no implied warranty. Also, this goes without saying, but please be sure to check with your local authority before attempting any grid interconnection. Bring your volt/amp meters to be sure these will work for your project(s) before purchase.

There are 16 modules total. Schott is also a glass company, so naturally these are a dual-glass design (glass back instead of a poly backing). One of the panels has a shattered glass backing that does not seem to affect its performance. These panels are very large and heavy, so please be sure to bring an extra helper to load the panels into your truck or trailer for transport.

The specs are:

Schott Solar, model number is ASE-270-DFG/50
Pmpp 260W
Vmpp 43.7V
Impp 5.3A
Voc 60.8V
Isc 5.9A
A test date stamp of 10JUN08
All panels operating normally at disassembly

Please see attached pictures of the panels. Pdf brochures are available online (search for the model number).

Contact our Secretary John at yojimbo9000@yahoo.com, or call/text (520) 235-5285 for more info and to schedule a showing. Hurry, at this price this set of panels will go quickly.

100% of the money raised from the sale of these panels will benefit the Solar Guild and Citizens for Solar (a 501c3) local Tucson nonprofit organization. We do solar related community outreach projects such as installing the large 40kW solar array at the Biosphere 2, standalone lighting systems for the ramadas at Catalina State Park, as well as hosting the Solar Potluck every year at Catalina State Park, Valley of the Moon, and more. You can visit our website at www.solarguild.org for more information about us.

Thanks for helping to support the Solar Guild and Citizens for Solar!

Announcing our 4th annual solar camp-out

6/12/2018

Comments

PASTE THIS INTO GOOGLE MAPS: 32°26'28.2"N 110°47'02.1"W
(The included map does not show the exact campground location)

Beginning on the solstice June 21st and ending on Sunday June 24th, Citizens for Solar and Solar Guild members, along with their friends and family will enjoy a camp-out at the top of Mount Lemmon. We'll enjoy 20° cooler weather than Tucson but somehow at 9000 feet the solar cooking is even more amazing due to less atmosphere. While this is a private event we will have a couple tables setup and interact the public, and have our solar ovens perched at the Scenic Overlook due to a heavily shaded beautiful campsite. All Solar Guild and Citizens for Solar members are invited. (If you have received this email, you are invited!)

While the campsite is primitive it is in walking distance from maintained Forest Service restrooms. To find us, drive up Mount Lemmon / General Hitchcock Highway. As you approach Summerhaven you will take your second right onto Ski Run Road. Continue upwards on Ski Run Road, past the iron door restaurant and ski chair lifts for 2.9 miles. You will see a large parking area for people walking towards the radio towers near the top of the ski lift. Our group will be on the right side of that road among the trees. If you go too far you will see the restrooms on the left hand side that we use and you will find a gate for private U of A use only.

Our fine chairwoman, Amber Gaia says that she will be on-site on the solstice and we will have a whiteboard to help show the campsite.
There will be events in Summerhaven on Saturday. People can rent mountain bikes and jump on a van that continuously takes people to the top of the ski run so you could ride down to the restaurant area or all the way down. It's called a lemon drop. There's no camping charge. you don't have to solar cook. Or you can just come for the day. Everyone is welcome. So get out of the hot city and enjoy relaxing at 80 degree daytime temperatures, and the sound of birds.

Hope to see you all there,

Rob Crosland

Funding Complete for the Solar Guild's New Solar Demo Trailer!

4/8/2018

Comments

The Solar Guild has raised enough in donations to help build their own solar powered demonstration trailer for use at upcoming events! Having our own solar trailer is a great way for us to demonstrate photovoltaic systems. Up to this point, the Solar Guild has been borrowing solar powered trailers or systems from other organizations in town for our events. Having use of our own trailer will eliminate the hassle of borrowing supplies, which will lead to even more community outreach and training project possibilities!

A Big thanks goes to George Vilec of GeoInnovation for donating the solar panels and a gently used battery bank! Thanks George!

Goodwill GoodFutures Cleanup Project at Biospere 2

2/25/2017

Comments

Thanks to all who participated at the Goodwill GoodFutures cleanup project at Biospere 2 today. Also thanks to John Adams for setting up the students with tickets for the tour. A lot of extra effort went into today's attendance. The bus would not start so the 10 participants jumped into personal vehicles and made their way to B2. Pat

Solar Pizza Oven

11/15/2016

Comments

The Solar Guild has taken on the task of refurbishing a solar pizza oven recently acquired from Skip Moen. We look forward to a bright and tasty future with the ability to solar cook take-n-bake pizzas at events around Tucson. Thanks Skip.

As for the history of this oven, Rob Crosland credits supernova Bob Banfield of Citizens for Solar as the creator of this solar pizza oven.

Arizona STEM Adventure - Pima Community College

11/2/2016

Comments

On Friday, October 28th 2016, thousands of 4th-8th grade students were treated to 4 dozen or so great exhibitors demonstrated by the likes of Biosphere 2, Honeywell, IBM and the favorite hands down Skips Solar Cooking.

For the "Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics" event Skip Moen and his lovely assistant Loretta had one rule for the  knowledge and cookie hungry students. They had to come up with a solar or solar cooking related question for them to answer before they received their chocolate chipped reward.
Skip and Loretta were aided by Chuck Wacker and Jose Arizpe from the Solar Guild with all of the days activities and the students certainly kept all involved very busy.
Thanks to all the students for such wonderful enthusiasm.

Thanks to Skip and to STEM for putting on such a great event.

The Solar Guild is currently seeking donations to help build their own solar powered demonstration trailer for use at upcoming events! Having a solar trailer is a great way of demoing photovoltaic systems. Up to this point, the Solar Guild has been borrowing solar powered trailers from other organizations here in town for their events, however having use of their own trailer would eliminate the hassle of borrowing supplies, which will lead to even more community outreach and training project possibilities!

Please contact us today if you think you may be able to help us in any way. We also have a new stock of solar powered water fountains available for a $25.00 donation, If you'd like to grab one, please contact us using this website, or watch for our booth at one of our upcoming events to pick one (or more!) up. Thanks for your help!

Biosphere 2 Solar Array Cleanup - Another Success

10/15/2016

Comments

Hello all,

Fridays Biospere 2 Solar Array vegetation cleanup project was a success. Once again the Goodwill GoodFutures group did a great job of fighting off the dust and heat to remove the shade creating growth around the array.

Thanks again to Jason Flores of Goodwill GoodFutures and John Adams of Biosphere 2 for putting this all together. To the many students and staff that worked through the "October heat" we can not thank you enough.
